Hello? Is there anyone there?
I’ve been away longer than I expected. After two weeks in the Seattle area my family and I threw everything we owned into boxes and moved to a new place. Everything is now out of boxes, but I’ve only just received internet access.
With my excuses out of the way, I’m happy to say I have been busy. Despite heavy procrastination, I have finished my first picture book, The Blue Monster. Would you like to see it? Okay!
When I attended the Art Institute I had a cartooning instructor. He was considered strict by many students. His job, he told us on the first day of class, was to teach us the skills to become professional, not build up our self esteem. A’s were only given for professional quality work. I have a problem with consistency. The monster on page one does not resemble the monster on the final page. If I was still in his class, I don’t believe The Blue Monster would receive an A, but I think I could have pulled a very strong B. Overall though, I am pleased. It’s a very solid first attempt. I’ve learned a lot from the process and I think my next attempt will be better (and take less time).
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.
I read it to Quinn. He read the parts in bubbles like he does with little mouse. I think it is a good sign that he not only sat through it but wanted to see/hear it again.
